All About Sikh Astronomical Society
Waheguruji Ka Khalsa, Waheguruji Ki Fateh
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. - Carl Sagan
Four inquisitive minds decided to combine efforts to create a group dedicated to observing the wonders of the universe. The Sikh Astronomical Society (S.A.S) is certainly in its infancy but the vision has been established. Aman Singh (Kent / Leeds), Dr. Jatinder Singh (London) & Sahib Singh (London) all have an interest in the cosmos and felt compassionate about sharing the experience with the Sikh community and beyond.
S.A.S’s fundamental aim is to have regular astronomical observing sessions at dark sky areas within the UK where the community can participate with their family and friends, with a special focus on showing children the beautiful jewels Akhal Purakh has put on display.
You definitely don't need to be an expert to join, nor do we confess to being experts ourselves, so we try to keep meetings at a level that anyone with a general interest in astronomy can follow. Probably the majority of our membership will consist of people just like you – interested but not obsessed!
The membership is free of charge and we will, with the blessing of Sat Gurprasad, organically grow the society and share our knowledge.
Our first observation night will be announced this winter (2020), but for now, please do feel free to subscribe to the society to keep informed of developments.
We are a part of the Sangat and welcome your ideas and suggestions. We are also very interested in anyone who has further experience and knowledge in Astronomy so we can learn and enjoy the splendor together.
